Our golf course

It is our pleasure to welcome you at the Golf-Club Schloss Breitenburg.

Here you have the opportunity to play 27 holes in a total area of 120 hectares, which also includes a 3-hole training course and a generous driving range with chipping greens, sandy bunkers and everything you need.

The first 18 holes were designed in 1990 by Gerd Olaf Osterkamp based on the ideas and visions of the Countess Elke and Count Breido Graf zu Rantzau. Within the beautiful landscape of marsh and the geest, water hazards, old trees, and the typical hedgerow can be found.

The holes 1, 2, and 9 (A-course) as well as the holes 10, 18, and 18 (B-course) are built on the geest. These holes are characterized by narrow fairways which are framed by trees on the sides. On both, the A- and the B- course, you come along a bridge crossing the canal of Breitenburg. It is one of the oldest shipping routes and was built in the years between 1875 and 1877 transport peat that was cut in the region.

The holes 6 and 13 provide you with a special highlight – from here you can see the 500-year old castle, which is also the home of the zu Rantzau family. These holes are built on marsh land and are characterized by several water hazards.

In the year 2000, our golf course was extended by another 9 holes. It was designed by David Krause who saw it as an opportunity to create a different kind of challenge. He started his career in 1986 and, among other projects, also contributed to rebuild the Golf Club Valderrama. Because of its wide fairways, huge greens and tough roughs it is quite a demanding course. A special challenge is the island on the 26th tee.

The combination of which courses are played changes regularly. All very different in character. the courses will provide you with a wonderful and memorable golfing experience. We put great emphasis on preserving natural resources. Since 2021, we have been part of the DGV project “Golf & nature”.
