Pilot Project: Dogs on the Golf Course
Our rules for bringing a dog on the golf course
Unsere Regeln für die Mitnahme eines Hundes auf die Golfrunde
Dog License (Hundführerschein)
It’s not just you—your dog must also be "course-ready." Can your dog wait patiently and quietly? Can they remain calm on a leash? Are they physically up to the demands of a four-hour round of golf? You must ensure that your dog does not bark at or run toward other players, jump into a water hazard to cool off (potentially dragging your golf bag with them), or chase after golf balls.
Mandatory Registration
If you wish to take your four-legged friend on the course, telephone registration is mandatory when booking your tee time. The office must be informed in advance that you are bringing a dog.
Your flight partners will be notified by us so they can decide whether or not they are comfortable playing in a group with a dog.
Time Slots for Golfing with Dogs
At Breitenburg, dogs are permitted until 10:00 AM and after 3:00 PM. This means your round must be completed by 10:00 AM or cannot begin before 3:00 PM.
Consideration
In a shared flight with golfers without dogs, mutual consideration and respect are a matter of etiquette. Even if it is hard for dog owners to imagine: there are golfers who prefer to play their round without canine company. This request takes priority and must be respected by the dog owner.
Leash Requirement
Your dog must follow standard commands and remain securely on a leash during the entire round.
While you are taking a shot, your dog should sit and wait until you move on. Dogs are not permitted on the tee boxes or the greens!
The leash requirement also applies to the terrace. Dogs are not allowed inside the clubhouse.
One Dog per Flight
A golf course is not a dog training school; therefore, our rule is: no more than one dog per player or per flight. If more than one player wishes to bring a dog, the "first-come, first-served" principle applies based on the time of registration.
No "Walkies" on the Course
A round of golf is not a substitute for a walk. Before starting your round, your dog should have already "taken care of business." Should your dog soil the golf course, you must remove and dispose of the waste immediately. No one wants to find their ball in dog waste or step in it!
Carrying waste bags is therefore essential. If you have forgotten yours, they can be purchased at the office.
No Tournament Participation
Bringing a dog during a competitive match or tournament is not permitted.
Liability and Conduct
In the event of justified complaints regarding your dog's behavior, we will ask you to end your round immediately or remove the dog from the premises. This also applies to the clubhouse, restaurant, and terrace. By bringing your dog, you assume full and unlimited liability for any damage your dog may cause to people, animals, or property on and off the golf course.
WE WISH YOU A WONDERFUL ROUND WITH YOUR FOUR-LEGGED FRIEND AND HOPE THAT OUR PILOT PROJECT IS A SUCCESS!
TIP: Remember to bring plenty of water and perhaps a tick remover for your companion!
